On the road... (Ok a mile
down the road) ...
Barat College- Soon they found a perfect audience,
an all girls school down the road in Lake Forest. What a terrific
audience. (OK they hadn't seen a boy in six months) This is
an Barat outdoor concert photo.
Don Roth's Restaurant To make some extra money they
scored their first paying gig at Don Roth's restaurant in
Wheeling strolling from table to table-- 50 bucks and dinner!
The crowd loved them. Until one day when they were called
in to the manager's office and were informed that they hadn't
washed their uniforms in about two months. The name, BO Trio
was born.
Minstrels With the help of one-semester LFC student
and musician, Gerry Grossman, they scored their first "Chicago
gig". They played at Minstrels, a club on Sheridan Road.
By this time all three were sporting ponytails and sort of
an attitude (as much you can have, growing up in the suburbs
and going to a college on the Lake). They refined their sound
and their "following" grew.
Lake Forest College But the real event
was always at LFC. They became easily the best band at the
school. (Okay there was only one other band). But still everytime
they played the commons it was packed and the energy was electric.
